Western Massachusetts Chief of Police AssociationPolice Memorial Monument

Police Memorial Monument

In 1989, The Western Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association dedicated a monument to honor and memorialize police and public safety officers of the four western counties of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  The Police Memorial Monument, which was funded by the WMCOPA, local communities, and private donations, pays tribute to those public servants who have made the supreme sacrifice by giving their lives in the line of duty.  In addition, the monument serves as a place for surviving family members and friends to come and honor those who have left us much too soon.

The Police Memorial monument is currently located on the grounds of the Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) Police Academy, 600 Kelly Way, Holyoke, MA, in front of the building. There are currently 47 officers enshrined on this monument that is dedicated in their memory.

We are looking to earmark specific funds for the continued maintenance and upkeep of the Memorial site.  We are reaching out to law enforcement personnel as well as our community partners throughout Western Massachusetts seeking funds to continue with the upkeep and necessary changes in order maintain the standards that we established in 2004.   In addition, these funds will be used to continue the National Law Enforcement Week annual services held at the site.

We need everyone’s help in the upkeep of this remembrance to our fallen brothers/sisters.
